Setting up Microsoft Single Sign-On (SSO) for Enterprise Customers

🔍 Purpose

Some organisations restrict logins to third-party apps, permitting access only to IT-approved applications. This guide shows you how to enable Microsoft login for Informed 365 while keeping your organisation’s security controls in place.

  • Ensure only authorised users can access Informed 365 while keeping security policies intact.

This guide is for Enterprise IT admins, security teams, and technical decision-makers managing authentication settings.

Before proceeding, ensure you have:

  • Admin access to Microsoft Azure

  • An Informed 365 account

Stage 1: Requesting access to use your Microsoft credentials to sign into Informed 365

The following steps can be completed by the following user types in your organisation:

  • System Administrators – IT Department users with permission to approve admin consent requests in Microsoft Azure.

  • Non-Administrators – Users outside of IT who may require admin approval to complete certain steps.

Note: All users must have a registered account on the Informed 365 platform to proceed.

Navigate to the Informed 365 platform (e.g., https://property.informed365.com) and click on Log In With Microsoft

Input your email address and click Next

Input your password and click Sign In

Input a written request providing context for the use of Informed 365 in your organisation. This justification text is what will be made visible to System Administrators

Click on Request Approval

The request has now been sent to your System Administrators to review and approve in Microsoft Azure

You will receive an email confirming the request has been sent


Stage 2: Reviewing and Approving the Request

The following steps can only be completed by the following user type in your organisation:

  • System Administrators – IT Department users with permission to approve admin consent requests in Microsoft Azure.

Note: All users must have a registered account on the Informed 365 platform to proceed.

An email will be sent to System Administrators, informing them to review the request to sign into Informed 365 using Microsoft credentials

This email contains:

  • Requester: user’s name

  • Email Address: user’s email

  • Requester’s organisation: your organisation’s name

  • Requested app: Informed 365

  • Requester’s justification: the written explanation provided when they made the initial request

  • Request date: date when request was submitted

  • Expiry date: date when request will become void if not approved by then

Click on Review Request

A new window will open, taking you to Microsoft Azure > Enterprise applications | Admin consent requests. Informed 365 will appear under the ‘My Pending’ tab

Click on Informed 365

Click on Requested by

You can refer to the details of the user who initially made the request here.

Click on Review permissions and consent

Either click on the appropriate account with System Administrator permissions, or click on Use another account to sign into an alternative account not listed on the menu

Click on Accept

You will then be returned to Microsoft Azure and receive a notification confirming the admin consent request for Informed 365 has been approved

The requesting user/s will receive an email notifying them that their request to access Informed 365 using their Microsoft credentials has now been approved


Stage 3: Signing into Informed 365 using Microsoft credentials

The following steps can be completed by the following user types in your organisation:

  • System Administrators – IT Department users with permission to approve admin consent requests in Microsoft Azure.

  • Non-Administrators – Users outside of IT who may require admin approval to complete certain steps.

Note: All users must have a registered account on the Informed 365 platform to proceed.

The user should now be able to successfully log in to the Informed 365 platform using single sign-on (SSO) with their Microsoft credentials

💡 Common Error

If you encounter an error message at the top of your login screen, it indicates that the Microsoft SSO hasn’t been fully configured. This could mean that the admin consent request hasn’t been approved or rejected. To monitor the progress of the admin consent request, reach out to your IT Department. The SSO feature with Microsoft in Informed 365 is designed for ease of use and minimal setup. There is no need for direct integration or manual configuration within your identity provider system.

  • No Direct Integration Needed: The feature utilises OAuth for authentication, ensuring a hassle-free setup without the need for you to intervene in your identity provider system.

  • No Application/Client ID Required: Users are not required to manage or configure an Application or Client ID for the Microsoft SSO integration.

  • Automatic Configuration: Redirect URIs and token configurations are managed internally through the OAuth flow. This means there's no need for manual setup on your part, simplifying the authentication process.

  • No Additional API Permissions: The SSO feature focuses solely on authentication without necessitating adjustments to API permissions in your identity provider.
